THINGS YOU MUST KNOW

REGARDING Chapter 4's

CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES

  1. The renewal period for an Engineer or Fireman’s license is from renewal to renewal.

  2. With in that renewal period, the licensee must obtain 30 hours of continuing education credit.

  3. One of the classes in that 5 year period must be a review class of Chapter 146 and 522 CMR 1.00-18.00.

  4. The rest of the credit hours can be any class in Chapter’s 4 Continuing Education program. You can not repeat a class in that 5 year period. If you repeat a class you will only be given credit for one of the classes.

  5. Due to the flexibility of our program, it is the student’s responsibility to make sure they are not repeating a class.

  6. Payment for a class must be made 1 week prior to the start of the class. Any payment received after that will be charged a $10 per member / $20 per non member late fee.

  7. All money will be handled at the office (413) 592-6273. The instructors will not take any form of payment for a class.

  8. Depending on seat availability, walk-ins will be allowed to take the class and will be charged a late fee.  Before certificate of attendance is given to walk-ins, the class fee and late fee must be paid to NAPE MA#4 through the National Office.

  9. NAPE Chapter 4 cannot accept credit card payments for continuing education classes.

30 Hour Certificates

If you have completed your 30 hours of Continuing Education and your license is soon to be renewed, don’t forget that the Department of Public Safety requires only one (1) 30 hour certificate mailed with your renewal fee.  Please give the office adequate time to produce your 30 hour certificate to ensure your license will not become inactive.
