Happy Independance Day

What is a POWER ENGINEER?

A Power Engineer is a person proficient in converting energy into power. For over 120 years NAPE has educated its members, in Chapters across the country, in the field of Power Engineering. N.A.P.E. is dedicated to the Education of Power Engineers. Mass Chapter 4 is located in Chicopee Massachusetts, and has over two hundred members that operate and maintain power plants from Worcester to the New York State line. As an active member of Chapter 4 your own professionalism increases each time you exchange ideas with other members at monthly business meetings, seminars, tours or social events. As a member of Chapter 4 we are taught that through association there is success.

Chapter President: Anthony Lucia

President's Message

Well it's official, we are now a licensed Proprietary School in Massachusetts !  What seems like forever has finally come to fruition.  This Chapter has always focused it efforts on education, and now we can expand our educational program to include schooling for the higher engineer’s licenses.  At the current time, we are working on setting a date for our 1st/2nd license preparation class.

The educational department has also been working on the Fall class schedule.  In the flyer, you will find information on Fall continuing education as well as the 2nd Fireman’s class schedule.  Spread the word and sign up by calling the office at 592-NAPE.

At last month’s business meeting there was much discussion about the Chapter’s financial situation.  A few situations have changed how much income we generate.  Some of them are:

1.  Non-member enrollment in our educational program has gone down.

2.  Due to employer taught continuing education, our overall enrollment has decreased.

In order to change our financial situation, the finance committee has met and offered some suggestions.  For example, we are going to limit our continuing education to 30 hours each semester.  Additionally, we believe we will need to modify the Chapter’s bylaws and consolidate some of our investment funds.  These proposals, we believe, will set the Chapter in the correct direction for years to come.

Therefore, our next Chapter meeting is very important, and because of a scheduling issue, will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009.  It will be held in the classroom at 5:00 p.m.  In addition to this business, we will vote and install officers for the coming year.  If you are interested in running for office, please come to the meeting.

Regards, Anthony
